UAESRA RANKING LIST POINTS
SCORING SYSTEM
1. The Ranking
List is run on a ranking system where ranking points are scored
dependent on two factors which are:
a. The
match result.
b. The
ranking points-difference between the two players.
2. The ranking points won or lost in a
match are taken directly from the Ranking Points
Table.
3. When the Ranking
Points Table is viewed, it can be seen that a differing points score
will be given for matches which are won 3-0, 3-1 or 3-2. It is therefore an advantage for players to
win matches 3-0 rather than3-1 or 3-2, if they want to score more points. The points are also awarded on a
sliding-scale basis dependent on the points-difference between the two players.

Point Difference |

This gives Player 1
a points-difference in this match of +40, and Player 2 a points-difference of
-40.
From the Ranking Points Table it can be seen that the following
points will be awarded:
|

This shows that
because there is a large points-difference between the two players, if the
stronger player (Player 1) wins 3-0, he only gains 1 ranking point. If, however, the weaker player wins 3-0, he
will gain 9 points.

In this example if
the score is 3-1 to Player 1 the points would be as follows:
Player 1: 3.6
Player 2: -3.6
If the score is
reversed to become 3-1 to Player 2 the points would be as follows:
Player 1: -4.4
Player 2: 4.4
In this scenario
Player 2 (originally on 215 points) will be on 219.4 and Player 1 (originally
on 220 points) will drop to 215.6.
Walkovers
4. A walkover is when one player fails to
appear for a match. No points will be awarded to either player for a walkover.
Penalty System
5. Penalty points are awarded for the Dubai Men’s League matches only. The DubaiMen’s League
year is divided into three ten-week seasons.
Penalties are awarded to players who do not play for a prolonged
period.
6. The penalties are awarded as follows:
a. For missing a complete half-season (5
weeks): -3 points.
b. For further consecutive complete
half-seasons missed (10 weeks in total):
a further -6 points, will continue to be
awarded until a match is eventually played.
This
means that for missing a complete season, a player will be awarded -9 points.
c. Once a match has been played, the
penalty system will revert to that in a.
and b. above.
d. This system will apply throughout the
three seasons of the squash year and
therefore consecutive (in b. above) may, for example, apply to
the last half of the Autumn Season and the first half of the Winter season.
e. A player must play at least one match
per half-season to avoid being awarded penalty points.
f. If players continue to miss matches
they may be withdrawn from the Ranking List at the discretion of the Dubai Men’s
League committee.

Challenging Procedure
7. Players may challenge each other
outside of the League at any time.
Challenges may only be played between players with a maximum ranking
points-difference of 50.
8. Players may only challenge other
players who are ranked ABOVE them. The
only exception to this is for the TOP TEN players in the ranking list who may
challenge each other, whether up or down the list. The players in this case must also have no
more than a 50 ranking-points difference.
9. Players who have been challenged must
play that match within 2 weeks of the challenge otherwise points will be
awarded as for a 3-0 loss. The
challenger will NOT however, be
awarded any points for a walkover in this case.
10. If a player has been challenged more than
once in a calendar month, he is obliged to play only one of those matches. If he cannot play any of the other challenges
he will not lose points. The challenged
player may, of course, play all challenges if he so wishes.
11. League Co-ordinator, Chris Wind, must
be made aware of all challenges, with dates of when the challenge is made. All results must also be forwarded to the
Co-ordinator, who will collate the results.
All challenge results will be entered at the end of each calendar month. Send your challenge results to organiser@dubaisquash.org
12. There are a number of individual players
in the rankings list. These players are
those who do not participate in the Men’s League. They may also be challenged and can challenge
anybody in the Ranking List.
Tournaments
13. Ranking points are also awarded for any
matches played in recognised tournaments.
The points will be awarded in the same manner as above and will count
for every match played.
14. Walkovers will constitute a 3-0 loss to
the player who fails to play the match.
Ranking points will be awarded to both players according to their
ranking points-difference.
15. Players entered in the Dubai Men’s League
ARE NOT awarded penalty points for not playing in recognised tournaments.
